Broadway shows and popular entertainers make the rounds here at The Centre and the newly restored Victory Theatre where you can also catch The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. The Evansville arts community includes the:

A short drive away, at Lincoln State Park you can enjoy seasonal outdoor theatre in the Lincoln Amphitheatre, or in historic New Harmony, you can see the productions of the New Harmony Theater during the summer months.

Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra
The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra is an 80-member symphony orchestra which performs September through May in the Victory Theatre. It offers Classics, Pops, Family concerts and special events, as well as performances by its Youth Orchestra, Chorus, Children's Chorus and String Quartet.

Evansville Museum of Arts and Science
Located on the banks of the Ohio River, the Evansville Museum offers more than 30 changing exhibits in the Arts, History and Science. Its permanent displays include artwork from the 16th century to the present, and a turn-of-the-century Main Street. The Science Discovery Forest, Koch Planetarium and artifacts from African, Asian, European and North and South American cultures are also featured here. The museum provides a stimulating program of tours, lectures, workshops and classes.

Evansville Symphonic Band
Celebrating their 50th anniversary, the Evansville Symphonic Band performs an annual summer series of old-fashioned band concerts at the Mesker Ampitheater as well as on the riverfront.

Ballet Evansville
Ballet Evansville is a pre-professional ballet company of auditioned dancers of all ages. Ballet Evansville's season includes the timeless and traditional Nutcracker as well as a spring production that has ranged from fairy tale classics to original works created for Ballet Evansville. Ballet Evansville is available to present performances for interested groups. Artistic Director Mark Bush also heads the Ballet Center, the official training school of Ballet Evansville. Classes are offered for all levels, ages 4 to adult. Please call for more information.

Evansville Children's Theatre
Professional touring productions are brought to Evansville and presented to children and their families at the University of Evansville's Shanklin Theatre. Call the office for a season brochure.
Evansville Civic Theatre

Established in 1925, Civic Theatre features local performers in all of its productions. This season includes three musical productions and two plays, including Neil Simon's Come Blow Your Horn and Some Enchanted Evening of songs by Rodgers & Hammerstein. Season brochures are available.

Evansville Dance Theatre
The Evansville Dance Theatre is a regional civic ballet company and training facility. The performances of the company and outstanding guest artists of such classics as The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty and others are accompanied by the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. Repertory People of Evansville
Since 1975, the Repertory People of Evansville (RPE) have been producing professional quality theatre with an emphasis on the performance of modern American drama and comedy. Five plays are presented each year, many by prize-winning authors. RPE is run entirely by volunteers, most of whom have professional theatre experience, and is generally considered to be Evansville's Off Broadway theatre. After 25 years at the Old Courthouse Center in downtown Evansville, RPE is searching for a new permanent site with a target move-in date of October 2001. In the meantime, RPE is continuing to produce plays in temporary locations and on the internet

The University Theatre
University of Southern Indiana
The University Theatre is located at 3001 Igleheart Ave. just off the West Lloyd Expressway. The season follows the academic year presenting four main stage and two student directed productions. With some local participation, and the primary support of students, the theatre program provides the community with opportunities to see contemporary as well as classic theatre.

Shanklin Theatre & May Studio Theatre
University of Evansville
Each season includes exciting new works as well as classic plays. The season's six productions, four on the Shanklin Theatre main stage and two in the May Studio Theatre, include everything from full-length dramatic and musical plays to one-acts and works-in-progress.

Business Development Outlook, a bi-monthly magazine for corporate real estate executives, features Quality of Life in the September/October 2006 issue. Metropolitan areas are ranked in ten categories including: Economy, Transportation, Recreation, Climate, Health, Housing, Safety, Education, Arts and Overall Quality of Life.

The Evansville, IN/Henderson, KY MSA was ranked 47 in the Overall Top 50. According to the article "The overall quality of life category holds the cities that one might expect to be on the list. However, the order in which they have been placed might be a surprise. Ultimately, what people want is to live life happily. People also want good housing, safe streets and a thriving economy. Few cities can boast that they "have it all." But a few can, and each have been ranked."

The article goes on to say, "In any case, it can’t be said enough: the happier people are the more productive they are. Any organization located in these top 50 cities will easily identify and recruit great employees. They will also allow transferring employees to maintain or improve quality of life."
