Our Success is Dependent on the Success of the Businesses We Assist

We at the Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana are trying to do more to build a healthy economy by creating and retaining jobs, generating more tax revenue, improving the quality of life in the Evansville region and helping to set an agenda for the future.

During the past year, we have been successful and have made a difference. Following are just a few of the projects we assisted in Vanderburgh County. We have also been successful in assisting with comparable projects in adjoining counties.

• We assisted Azteca Corn Milling with the expansion of their facility by helping them obtain a tax phase-in for $24 million of new production equipment which will help them to become the largest processor of white corn in North America.
• We assisted FedEx Ground with their search for a site for their new facility. This new facility at the Vanderburgh Industrial Park is 54,000 square feet and will create and retain over 80 full and part-time positions.
• We assisted Tenneco Automotive, a supplier to TMMI, with their search for a facility suitable for an automotive exhaust system plant. They chose the 28,000 square foot "spec" building at the Vanderburgh Industrial Park and requested our assistance with tax-phase in from Vanderburgh County. The company is in the process of investing over $4 million and hiring 35 employees for phase one of the project.
• We have taken the Certified Technology Park from concept to reality. Evansville became the 10th CTP in 2004. With a recent state grant of $240,000, Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indianais helping to establish a high-tech incubator in conjunction with our partners at Vectren Corp. and USI. This effort has been undertaken to help transform downtown Evansville into a vibrant destination for technology rich companies.
